The Somaliland National Disability Forum in collaboration with SONSAF Platform and Danguud Consortium
has conducted an event to discuss violence against children with disabilities, as part of the 16 Days of Activism 2021.
The participants of the event discussed, that schools should mandate polices that enforce teachers to receive trainings on successful strategies for teaching and supporting students with disabilities. There are kids with autism, dyslexia, down syndrome who require more attention.
The Executive Director of the Somaliland National Disability Forum (SNDF) noted that schools, mosques and all workplaces need to be accessible to people with disabilities.
There was also a penal discussion on how to address the challenges facing children with disabilities in learning, In the panel discussion, it was discussed that there should be initiatives that push to make facilities more accessible for people with disabilities in schools, mosques and restaurants. Schools should also focus on the curriculums and be more inclusive for these children.
