Hargeisa, (SNDF)–Somaliland National Disability Federation (SNDF), a consortium of disabled people’s organizations in Somaliland in collaboration with Somalia NGO Consortium have organized a two-day workshop entitled “Consultation Workshop on Discourse and Advocacy on the Rights of the People with Disabilities and Minority Groups” to highlight challenges faced by People with Disabilities and minority groups living in Somaliland.
The workshop highlighted the socio-economic challenges faced by people with disabilities and minority groups such as barriers in accessing services that many of us have long taken for granted, including health, education, employment, transport, and information as well as rehabilitation.
In his opening remarks, the Executive Director of Somaliland National Disability Federation (SNDF), Mohamed Ahmed Essa highlighted challenges faced by persons with disabilities and minority groups living in Somaliland.
“The socio-economic challenges faced by people with disabilities and minority groups include; barriers in accessing services such as health, education and employment services” Mohamed Ahmed Essa, SNDF Executive Director said.
Other officials who also spoke at the workshop opening ceremony include; SNDF deputy chairman Mr. Osman Ahmed Abdi and other officials.
